TY - JOUR T1 - Transparency and Consent in Data-Driven Smart Environments PY - 2021 N2 - More and more smart devices are making their way into consumers’ private homes. While offering convenience, cost and time savings, these internet-enabled objects also raise notable concerns for consumers from a privacy and data protection perspective. Faced with these issues, this paper sheds light on how the principles of transparency and (informed) consent, as well as a recourse to technology, can contribute to a higher level of informational protection for consumers in data-driven smart environments.
